In half term one, our Year 7 classes are taught in mixed ability groups, and our teachers differentiate in order to ensure challenge for all.

We plan the delivery of the curriculum through structuring knowledge as ‘critical’ – ‘core’ – ‘pinnacle’. This enables us to plan effectively for ‘desirable difficulty’ and ‘threshold moments’, embedding knowledge and enabling students to create ‘unique responses’ as they truly master the critical and core knowledge of a topic. In half term two, our Year 7 students are set in maths and science. For all other subjects they remain in mixed ability teaching groups.
